Thanks to Tony for sending this sectional diagram.. ( Interesting that this information about an American grenade is submitted from a friend in the U.K. using a book published by the French using U.S. documentation!) |
Taking the sectional diagram one step further, Brad has graciously
composed this sequential rendering of the functional concept Function: 1 - Safe 2 - Safety Pin is withdrawn, grenade is now armed. 3 - Impact, from the side, pushes the striker/primer assembly to the side, compressing the creep spring. 4 - Detonation. Of course, top or bottom impact compressed the striker as well, hence the term "allways fuze". Brad also found this "The Small Arms Review" publication about the Beano and its history. A very interesting read. |
